Fish in the Dark
LITTLE BUG FOR THE FIRST FISH IN THE EVERWATCHING COVE : the game doesn't let you reel. You can brute force this by reeling all the time. I will fix this once the game jam has ended.
Night has fallen and you're sitting in front of a mysterious pond...
Explore the intriguing waters of Fish in the Dark and discover its inhabitants.
The game is an audio-only adventure requiring stereo sound. You should plug-in some headphones/earphones!
You only need three buttons:
- Left button / left part of your touchscreen.
- Right button / right part of your touchscreen.
- Start / Escape / top part of your touchscreen.
The game is currently a demo, containing a dozen fish.
I have other ideas in mind, including an ending, a lot more fish, and a scoring system to motivate you to do the perfect run!
If you like this project, let me know! It will highly motivate me :)

I really like this game. I think it is really well made. I only wish that different buttons would do different things (because sometimes "left" means to lure the fish, but at other times it is used to reel the fish (when using the left and right buttons).
Although that's pretty cool that the mechanics are very simple, it made me a bit confused at first about where to click.
I think it's a very Zen game and the sound cues make perfect sense - to cast the rod, to follow the fish when luring, to reel it back. It's a very good game.
Edit: Another thought: when looking at the almanaque, I can't really see a list of the fish? Maybe it's because I game overed? My rod shattered.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! I plan to release a new version with some improvements (some bugs / weird UI, weird controls are already fixed but not yet uploaded) but i'm currently overwhelmed with LIFE 😱
Honestly I totally understand. I hope you get to try it again when you feel better!
Didn't think I'd be into ASMR fishing, but here we are.
This is great. The changes and difficulty as you progress really help to keep it interesting.
I have a bit of constructive feedback if you're interested.
Sometimes the instructions didn't seem clear to me.
It says that doing the wrong thing will make your rod creak, but everything I did made a creaking sound.
I'm guessing it meant the snapping sound, but I'm not 100% sure, as that would also sometimes play at the same time as the bubble sounds.
One of the first everwatching glade fish would quickly move left and right but would never stop.
The instructions said to wait until the fish stops moving, but I was only able to catch it by reeling when it was flailing in the middle.
It took me a while to realise that getting caught in the everwatching glade would reset you back to the left.
And in one of the glade levels, the instructions said to move right, but the fish was on the left.
It also seemed like the reel wouldn't always work. Almost as if you had to continue alternating from the last direction you pressed, even after you've dragged the fish around.
Just my personal experience though. Maybe I misunderstood or missed something.
I played the web version in the Vivaldi browser on a linux OS, so it could also be a compatibility issue with my niche setup.
None of the issues were bad enough to deter me from catching all the fish though.
Overall, I still really enjoyed the game, and would definitely recommend that others give it a try.
Nice work :)
thank you so much, your feedback is precious! The first ever watching cove fish clearly has a bug, I was able to reproduce it on android & web, but it works on desktop. I'll check that!
Yes you're right, the sound feedback will have to be improved!
Thanks so much!
"And in one of the glade levels, the instructions said to move right, but the fish was on the left." In fact it's doable to the right, but requires tight timing. You should have clues to go to the left after some attempts. It's linked to the the fact that it's a distinctuna, going his own way. But I think that it's not the greatest idea because as a player you don't know the link between the fish & it's behavior before fishing it.
(Was it understandable that each fish in a zone represent a progressive way of dealing with issues?)
